and then there were none

Upon further inspection of Mrs Rogers she is pronounced dead from heart failure. Dr Armstrong asks Rogers if she took a before she went to bed and he says nothing except what Dr Armstrong gave her. Vera and Phillip find Blore standing on the beach waiting for the motorboat and they talk about Marstons death and how there is no evidence of him killing himself. When everyone is gathered for breakfast Dr Armstrong tells everyone that Mrs Rogers passed away in her sleep and Emily Brent thinks it was because of her conscience. General Macarthur denies accusations made by the guests that Mr Rogers killed her in her sleep. The guests also notice that the motorboat never arrived, and MacArthur says to Blore that it will never come and that this is the end for them. In chapter five Anthony Marston is pronounced dead by Dr Armstrong. Dr Armstrong thinks that Marston killed himself by putting potassium cyanide in his own drink. Mr Rogers checks on his sleeping wife and then everyone goes to their room and locks their door. Justice Wargrave thinks about his accusation and what happened the day it happened. Mr Rogers finds only nine China figures on the table and thinks it is strange after Marston's death. MacArthur ponders his accusation and thinks about his reasoning on doing it. He thinks that no one would think his accusation is true because of all that has been happening, and begins to not want to leave the island. Vera thinks about Hugo, the love of her life, and Cyril the boy who drowned. The drowning replays in Vera's mind and she takes aspirin to sleep but notices that the solider poem corresponds with what happened that night.
In chapter four each guest tells everyone about their accusations on the gramophone. Vera tells everyone that she was a nursery governess to a little boy names Cyril. He wanted to swim out to a rock but Vera would not let him. Vera got distracted and Cyril swam out and drowned. General MacArthur tells everyone that Arthur Richmond, one of Macarthurs officers, was sent on reconnaissance by MacArthur and was killed in battle. Phillip Lombard tells everyone that he stole food from natives and left them to starve. Anthony Marston tells everyone that he ran over a few kids speeding. Mr and Mrs Rogers tell the guests that they took care of a woman of poor health named Miss Brady who died when they couldn't get a doctor to the house fast enough. Mr. Blore tells everyone that he let an innocent man die but his crime wasn't intended. Dr. Armstrong operated while drunk and killed a woman. Emily Brent refused to talk about her accusation with the group. Justice Wargrave asks everyone about their accusations but doesn't talk about his own. When everyone is finished telling a each other their story Anthony Marston takes a sip from his drink , turns purple and falls to the ground
In chapter three all the guests go to the dining room and enjoy a meal prepared by Mr. and Mrs. Rogers. They also notice ten Indian China figures set up on the table. Once they finish their meal everyone is talking and finally enjoying themselves, until they are interrupted by a voice from somewhere in the house that begins to accuse each person of a crime they committed. Each guest is horrified and confused and Mr. Rogers tells them that he was directed to put on a gramophone called swan song by Mr Owen. Everyone denies their charges except Mr. Marston and Mr Lombard, and then everyone decides to share their invitations with each other to see if they can find a similarity in who wrote them. They come to the conclusion that the person who wrote them the letters. U.N OWEN, actually stands for unknown. Everyone comes to a conclusion that someone sent each guest there and they aren't alone
At the station a taxi driver asked who was going to solider island and Vera, Emily Brent, Mr. Wargrave, and Phillip all answered. Mr Wargrave and Emily Brent went in one taxi while Phillip and Vera made small talk waiting for the next taxi. Then Mrs. Owen's secretary came out and introduced Vera to Phillip and led General Macarthur, Vera, and Phillip to the next taxi. As the drove to the beach Solider Island came into view and Vera had a sinister feelings about because it was so set back and creepy. Outside of a little inn a man named Mr. Davis from South Africa introduced himself to everyone. Then they all arrived to the beach a man named Fred Narracott told everyone that he would take them all to Solider Island on a motor boat. Anthony Marston made a huge entrance was almost like a god. Fred Narracott thought about how none of the guests looked like how he expected them to. He also thought about the short and specific directions a man named Mr. Morris gave to him. The guests and the house seemed very strrange to Fred. They arrived at the low and sqaured modren house in awe and were lead to their rooms by Mr. and Mrs. Rogers. Phillip Lombard learned that sometimes the route to Solider Island is cut off for a week when there is a storm, and Gebneral Macarthur got an uneasy feeling about the place. Then the guests learned that the Owen's would be delayed in their arrival. In Vera's room she found a nursery rhyme that she remembered from her childhood. Dr Armstrong and Mr. Wargrave recognized each other and we learned the Mr. Wargrave used to be called the hanging judge.
In chapter one we are introduced to 10 characters who are all invited to a secluded island called Solider Island off the coast of Devon, England. The first character we are introduced to is named Mr. Justice Wargrave. He is a rich, retired judge who was invited by one of his remote friends Constance Culmington. Mr Justice Wargrave can only recall distant memories of the last time he heard from Constance Culmington but accepts her invitation to Solider Island to 'bask in sunshine.' The second character is named Vera Claythorne who is a games mistress at a third class school. Vera is invited by a woman names Una Nancy Owen who claims to have a job for her at Solider Island. Vera is thrilled at the offer but is quickly upset when she recalls a memory of a child she tried to save who was drowning on her watch. The third character's name is Phillip Lombard, a man on the same train as Vera who was down to his last square meal. Phillip was told by a man named Mr. Issac Morris to go to Solider Island for a job where he would be paid an immense amount of money. Phillip tells Mr. Morris that he cannot take on any sort of illegal job, and Mr. Morris tells him that is anything may seem illegal Phillip may leave the island. The fourth character's name is Emily Brent. Emily is a sixty five year old woman who always sat upright and was rigid. She did not approve of people younger then her because she thought that they were lax and indolent. Emily was invited to Solider Island by a woman she had met at the Belhaven Guest House years ago. The handwritten letter Emily received was barely legible but she could make out who had signed it, U.N.O. The fifth character is General Macarthur, who is an impatient man invited to Solider Island by a fellow named Owen. At Solider Island Owen and a few of Macarthur's old friends would be there which made Macarthur more then pleased to go. The sixth character is Dr. Armstrong a successful and skilled doctor who received a vague invitations from the Owen family to come to Solider Island. The seventh character is Tony Marston, who is a tan, six foot tall, and blue eyed man who is confident in himself and what he does. Tony received an invitation from the Owen family who he assumed must have an abundant amount of money. The eighth character is Mr. Blore a man hired to preform a job at Solider Island. He felt unchallenged and ready to face whatever his job had to offer. The ninth and tenth characters are Mr. and Mrs. Rogers the manservant and wife. They were told to tend to the people on Solider Island.
